Mrs. Bacon was born Feb. 18, 1920, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late William Watson and Faye Shipman Brownfield. She was a homemaker, a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Huntsville, and attended Cookeville First United Methodist Church.
She graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in home economics and costume design. After teaching and raising a family, she began to study painting at Wright State University in Ohio and Athens State College in Alabama. She was a well-known artist in Huntsville and was a member of the Huntsville Art League.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Lt. Russell Early Moraine Jr., who died in active duty during World War II, and Phillip E. Bacon Jr.; sister, Barbara Cassidy; and four brothers, Robert Brownfield, Edwin Brownfield, C. William Brownfield and Lyman Brownfield.
Survivors include three daughters, Patricia "Tricia" and husband Dr. Thomas L. Lawrence of Cookeville, Mary Etta and husband Dr. Jerry Palmer of Tuscaloosa, and Dr. Martha Brogan of Columbus, Ohio; two sons, Philip E. Bacon III of Windsor, Calif., and David Pace Bacon of Seminole, Fla.; grandchildren and great-grandchildren [named in the obituary]. She is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, David and Novella Brownfield of Hamilton, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cookeville First United Methodist Church, 204 East Spring St., Cookeville, TN 38501 or the Putnam County Library, 50 East Broad St., Cookeville, TN 38501. Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
