She was born in Crewe, Va., and was the daughter of the late Nettie Cole and William Wesley Bland, and the widow of J. Richard Briggs Jr. Mrs. Briggs was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, its United Methodist Women, and a member of the Lakewood Garden Club.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Riverside Cemetery in Norfolk. The family will be at the Cox Funeral Home from 4 to 5 p.m. today for visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to Epworth United Methodist Church, 124 W. Freemason St., Norfolk 23510.
