Born in Canastota on Nov. 10, 1946, she was the daughter of Lyle and Elizabeth Hart Chafee. A lifelong resident of the Oneida area, Sherry was educated in Canastota schools.
Sherry was a former member of the Women of the Moose, Oneida Chapter No. 272, a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Charles Miller Post No. 140, and was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving are three sons and one daughter-in-law, Arthur H. Greene, Walter P. and Darlene Greene, and David W. Greene, all of Canastota; her mother, Elizabeth Chafee of Canastota; five sisters, Lila Ward and her companion, Dennis Smith of Oneida, Irene and her husband, Skip Van Vorst of Durhamville, Rose Chafee of Canastota, Vera Chafee of Chittenango, and Lily Beth Chafee of Syracuse; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Lyle and Lynn Chafee, Darwin Chafee, and Russell and Mary Chafee, all of Canastota; seven grandchildren, Darick S., Casondra L., Holdridge L., Joshua P. , Austin L., and Dakota S. Greene; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a grandson, Zachery P. Greene in 2000.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Saturday from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main St., Oneida, with Pastor Larry Chamberlain officiating. Interment will be made in Stockbridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., Saturday, prior to the funeral service. Contributions, in her memory, may be made to the Oneida Fire Department Rescue Squad, 109 North Main St., Oneida, NY 13421 or the American Cancer Society, Box 7, 6725 Lyons St..
