Richard R. Davis, 87, Fort Dodge, died Friday, February 6, 1998, at Trinity Regional Hospital.
Services were Tuesday, February 10, at St. Paul Lutheran Church with the Reverend Chris Schwanz officiating. Burial was in North Lawn Cemetery.
Richard Robert Davis was born February 5, 1911, in rural Webster County. He grew up in the Knierim area and graduated from Manson High School in 1929. He married Marion Luebke in 1942, at Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was attached with the 4th Fighter Group in England. After his discharge, he returned to Knierim until 1947, when they moved to Fort Dodge. He worked as a bookkeeper for the Preferred Beer Co. for 25 years until his retirement in 1973.
He was a 50 year member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church Choir, past secretary of the congregation, the VFW Post 1856 and the American Legion Post 130.
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Grace Davis and his brothers Roy, Tom and Carver.
Survivors include his wife, Marian; son Dean, Torrance, California; daughter Marilyn Ropte, Fort Dodge; three granddaughters; and brother Bob Davis, Lomita, California.
