CORDELE Funeral services for Minnie Faye Beeland of Savannah and a former long-time resident of Cordele, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2009 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Service. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 17, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Mrs. Beeland, 90, passed away Saturday at Azalea Land Nursing Home in Savannah. She was born in Morgan, GA and was the daughter of the late Omer Lafayette and Minnie Eva Adams Eubanks. Mrs. Beeland was a homemaker and a member of Cordele First United Methodist Church where she served at one time as President of the OPEL Club. She also served for many years as Treasurer of the Crisp County Chapter of the American Red Cross. She had also been an active member in the Order of the Eastern Star as past Matron of Tallulah Atkins Chapter #34, member of the Past Matrons and Past Patrons Club, Crape Myrtle Chapter #63, the Lamplighters Club and served as Grand Chaplain of Georgia in 1985-86.

She is survived by her son and his wife, DeWitt and Jenny Beeland of Savannah; five grandchildren, Michael Beeland and his wife, Jamie, Jason Beeland, Jeff Beeland,Stephanie Updike and her husband, Johnny, and Crystal Milner and her husband, Josh; and five great-grandchildren, D Thomas, Micah Beeland, John Updike, Freddie Updike and Decatur Milner.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Ray Beeland and son, Thomas Ray Beeland.
