William "Will" Henry Powell married young Mary Ellen Wright on July 23, 1884, San Augustine Co, Texas. William Henry Powell was a son born to Henry Jackson Powell and Nancy Burch when they were residing in Simpson County, Mississippi. Henry Jackson Powell
and Nancy Burch Powell some of their children, including William Henry Powell, migrated to Texas. Mary Ellen Wright, called Mollie, was the first born to Rev. John Wesley Wright
and Cynthia "Elvira" Gary , both buried in Wood Cemetery, San Augustine County, Texas. Her father, Methodist Minister Rev. John Wesley Wright, died June 10, 1884, from a fatal heart attack. William Powell and Mary Ellen Wright married about a month later.

William Henry Powell and Mary Ellen Wright Powell became the parents of thirteen children.
