Services for Glenn V. Averill, a retired Detroit police detective sergeant, will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the Verheyden Funeral Home, 16300 Mack, Gross Pointe Park.
Mr. Averill, 69, who lived in Whittier Hotel, 415 Burns, died Monday in Deaconess Hospital.
A native of Painsesville, O., he served in the police department 25 years before retiring in 1952.
He was a member of Friendship Lodge No. 417, Detroit Commandery No. 1, Moslem Temple, and the Detroit Police Lieutenants and Sergeants Association. He was active in the American Legion.
Mr. Averill is survived by his wife, Helen, and a sister, Mrs. Clara Gillette.
Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Cemetery."
