James Sherman Nichols, age 79, died July 13, 1950 at his home in Chouteau, Oklahoma.

Sherman was born June 9, 1871 at Salem, Missouri, the son of John Jackson "Jack" and Artemisa Elizabeth "Betty" (Weaver) Nichols.

Sherman and Mrs. Ida M. (Briggs) Wadsworth were married March 31, 1894 in Shannon County, Missouri. They were the parents of ten children. Ida died in 1917.

He and Mrs. Olive Isabelle "Belle" (Sidwell) Briggs were married July 25, 1925 in Wagoner County, Oklahoma.

Survivors include his wife, Belle Nichols, five sons, Earl Nichols of Seminole, Herman Nichols of Wewoka, Burl Nichols of Drumright, Cecil Nichols of Eunice, New Mexico and Fred Nichols of Drumright; four daughters, Ethel Harwin of Edmond, Daisy Divine of Westville, Goldie Smalley of Amarillo, Texas and Jewel Williams of Eureka, Kansas; 15 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Funeral Service was at 2:00 p.m., July 14, 1950 at Chautau Baptist Church with the Reverend Roberts officiating.

Burial is in Ganderville Cemetery at Summers, Washington County, Arkansas.

Arrangements are by Green Funeral Home.
