Jane Spitz, 80, of Olney, died at 7:08 p.m. Monday, November 8, 2004, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney with Reverend Father Jerry Wirth officiating.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Olney.
Mrs. Spitz was born on August 9,1924, in Olney, the daughter of James and Ora (Palmer) Eckenrode.
She married Herman Francis Spitz on November 6,1945. He preceded her in death on October 16, 1997.
She was a retired homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney.
Mrs. Spitz is survived by five sons, Mike Spitz and his wife, Anne, of Colchester, Conn., Jerome Spitz, of Chicago, David Spitz and his wife, Susan, of Olney, Stephen Spitz and his wife, Susan, of Marion, Iowa, and Vincent Spitz and his wife, Susan, of Evansville, Ind.; three daughters, Beverly McClung and her husband, William, of Tampa, Fla., Phyllis Jones and her husband, Leo, of Wheaton, and Patricia Barnhart and her husband, Timothy, of Newburgh, Ind.; and 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, James Eckenrode, of Hammond, Ind.
