Funeral Services Held January 8 for H. J. Gilbert
Funeral services were held Friday, January 8, 1971 for Harvey J. Gilbert, 70 at his home in Dunlap. Death occured at the Providence Hospital at Holyoke, Mass, where he was spending the Christmas Holiday at the home of his son, Mr. and Mrs. John Gilbert. Father Adam Reisz officiated at the service. Pallbearers were Wilbur Zitzsperber of Denison, Dan Klott of Omaha and Gerald Leaders, John Dunham, John O'Connor and Robert Moore all of Dunlap. Burial was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Dunlap. HArvey was a past president of both the Omaha Optimist Club and Omaha Executive Association.
Harvey J. Gilbert was born Sept. 25, 1900 at Ponca City, Oklahoma, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas A. Gilbert. (All Census records show Allan S. Gilbert as father). He attended school in Grand Island and Omaha. He worked in Omaha and was president and owner of the Omaha Neon Sign Co. for 28 years retiring in 1965 in Dunlap. He was united in marriage to Florentine M. Dixon May 8, 1923 in Omaha. To this union three children were born, Betty Claire who died in infancy, John D. Gilbert of Holyoke, Mass, and Mrs. Douglas (Patricia) Cushing of Iowa City. Survivors include his wife, son, daughter, a sister, Mrs. Mabel Johnson of Santa Ana, Calif., a brother Tom of Arkansas City, Kansas and ten grandchildren. Out of town guests include, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Klott, Mrs. James Encell, Roger Dadrill, Mr. McDonald, Fred Heyde, John Parish and son, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Sabraski of Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Clements, Mrs. Harold Auld, Giles Noonen, Blackie Meshusa, Jack Murphy and Ralph Bilsten of Denison, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Gilbert of Arkansas City, Kansas, Mrs. E. V. Kelly of Buffalo, Wyo., Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Cushing of Woodbine, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Baughman of Arlington, Kansas, Mr. and Mrs. William Cushing of Sioux Falls, So. Dak., Mr. Emmett Mullen and Mrs. Mabel Mullen of Manning.
