THE PARIS NEWS, May 12, 2003: ‘Ruth Emma Julian, 84, of Paris passed away Sunday, May 11, 2003, in Christus St. Joseph’s Hospital South. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, in the chapel of Gene Roden’s Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Randall Perry officiating and the Rev. Doug Miller assisting. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Gene Roden’s Sons Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 12, at the funeral home. She was born Sept. 4, 1918, in Hobbstown, Ark., the daughter of Allie Elmore and Sarah Etta Eubanks Collier. She married Joe David Julian on Jan. 30, 1972, in Paris. She managed McClellan Five and Dime for 41 years until its closing. She then managed the Duke & Ayers Department Store until her retirement, handing over the management to her daughter. She was one special lady who will be missed by all her family and friends. She was truly in love with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she adored. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Clinton, Earl, Wilburn and Clifton Collier; a sister, Mae Collier Johnson; and a son-in-law, Everett Gene Hinson. Survivors include her husband, Joe, of Paris; daughter, Harriet Hinson of Paris; granddaughters, Lisa Rhoades and husband, Bill, of Commerce and Kelley Hinson Mowery and husband, Mike, of Paris; and great-grandchildren, Kodie Kay Mowery, Chelsea Jean Mowery and Shelby Lynn Rhoades. Pallbearers will be Bill Rhodes, Marcus Roden, Mike Mowery, Bill Brooks, Dr. Ed Schaeffer and Don Robinson. If desired, memorials may be made in the name of Ruth Emma Julian to the charity of your choice.’
