Ruby's Stafford ancestors settled in Florida when Spain was in control (ca 1802).

1st husband: Earl George Hempstead (See Sunset Memorial Park, Coos Bay, Coos Co. OR);
2nd husband: Charles Sea Lemos b. 1888 in Mendoza, Argentina d. 1977 Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz Co. CA.

Ruby loved to drive. In 1928, when few women drove, she took to the wheel with two of her young children from Calif. to visit her family in Florida. She ret'd, bringing along her father, Columbus, who stayed with her family in Southern California for awhile. All the women in her family enjoyed driving and were proficiently skilled.

Ruby also was the equal to a Master Gardner, her green thumb reflected wherever she lived.

What her grandchildren remember most were her summer pilgrimages to the Meeks Bay Family Resort at Lake Tahoe (western shore, Calif. side) where she parked her 21 ft. trailer for the summer duration, allowing small groups of grandchildren to visit her for two week intervals. She put up a cabana outside which was attached to the trailer so there was plenty of sleeping room for all.

Life was a great adventure for Ruby and she lived life to the fullest.
