Charles M. Owen died at his home just north of Osage, early yesterday morning after an illness of several weeks.

Mr. Owen was born in Blechertown, Massachusetts, January 28, 1818. He was one of ten children and went out from the Massachusetts home for himself when 19 years of age. In 1847, he was married to Louisa A. Shaw and to them were born six children: Frances L., Charles A., Edward E., Ida May, Fred E., and Ella A. The mother died in 1862.

In 1857, he came west in the interest of the wagon and carriage trade, and in 1869, he came to Mitchell county and purchased the farm where he lived up to the time of his death.

About 13 years ago he was married to Mrs. Mary Eva Miller who now shares the sorrow of his death with their two children, Ralph and Beatrice. The funeral is announced for Sunday next to occur at the home.

Mr. Owen was a respected citizen of the community who by thrift and good business judgment accumulated considerable property and his demise removes one of the substantial and self sacrificing pioneers of Mitchell county.
