James Edward Barnes of Ramona passed away on May 18, 2010. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee on October 11, 1921. James served proudly in the US Marines during WWII.

James was a pioneer of the annual fundraising campaign for The Fund for Animals Rehabilitation Center. He loved the game of golf and donated golf balls every year to the Youth Summer Program at the San Vicente Country Club.

James is survived by his daughter, Patricia Barnes Simmons, granddaughter Pamela Burkett, sister Joyce Ann Kernodle, nephews John Kernodle and Charles "Les" Kernodle, great nephews Matthew Kernoodle, Max Kernodle, Samuel Kernodle, and great niece Kelsey Kernodle. He was predeceased by his sister Lois Barnes.

There will be a service for James at the Ramona VFW on Saturday, May 29th at 1:00 p.m. and a Celebration of Life at the San Vicente Country Club on Wednesday, June 2nd at 12:30 p.m. James will be laid to rest with his beloved Eleanor at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery.
