THOMAS BURTON BAKER, age 71 of Gainesville, Texas, died early Sunday morning in a Gainesville hospital. He was a former oil field worker with the Jake L. Hamon Co. and had lived in the Healdton area for several years before moving to Gainesville when he retired in 1961.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the First Baptist Church in Gainesville with the pastor, Rev. HARRY ROARK, officiating. Vernie Keel funeral home was in charge with interment in Fairview cemetery. Bearers: M. L. MCGOWAN, JESSE ATTEBURY, RUFUS IDEDIL, ROBERT GRAY, PAUL OSBURN, and MUGG PAWLESS.

He was born in Montague county, July 24, 1896 and married Miss OZIE CALHOUN at Ringling, Jan. 21, 1921.

Survivors are his widow; daughter, Mrs. W. H. PRUITT of Gainesville; son, WINFORD B. BAKER of Nacogdoches, Texas; brothers, J. D. BAKER of Fox and H. L. BAKER of Healdton; half-brother, A. R. MIDDLETON of Pasadena, Texas; sisters, Mrs. ROY WITHERS of Wirt, Mrs. RILEY SIZEMORE of Ringling, Mrs. EUGENE CAMPBELL of Tulsa; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild, a step grandson and some nieces and nephews.
