Fred T. Furner passed away at his home on June 27, 2010 after valiantly fighting a long illness.

He was born October 2, 1933 to George Thomas and Sarah Ruth Taylor Furner. He attended South High School and the University of Utah.

He married Barbara Solomon on February 6, 1958 in the Salt Lake Temple. Fred's life was filled with serving others. He served in the military during the Korean Conflict.

Fred served an LDS Mission to Sweden from 1955-1957, and has served in many callings in the church. He served for fourteen years as an ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple, and was blessed with the opportunity to direct a choir for the Jordan River Temple dedication. He and Barbara were service missionaries at LDS Business College. Fred had a great love for music. He and Barbara sang as members of the Salt Lake Symphonic Choir.

Fred also enjoyed shopping at the DI, and eating smothered burritos with cheese.

Survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Barbara; children, Michelle (Kelly) Wood, Steve (Shelly), Leanne (Gordon) Ray, Janae Furner (Kirt Bolinder), Greg (Lynette), Scott (Lisa); twenty-one grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Boyd and George Furner. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ben, Taylor, Grant, Ron; and sisters, Maxine and Ruth.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Crescent Eighth Ward Chapel, 2080 East Pinecrest Lane (11530 South). A viewing will be held on Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Church and 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to the services on Thursday.
Interment: Mountain View Memorial Estates Cemetery.
