John E Donahue died at his home in Kendall, January 1, 1908, of paralysis. His death, like his life, was peaceful and happy, and he passed away surrounded by his wife and family. Mr. Donahue was born in Westmeath County, Ireland, and when quite young came to the United States with his parents, who settled at New Diggings. In 1855 he moved with his parents to the town of Kendall, which place he made his home until the time of his death. In 1869 he was married to Margaret McDermott. Six children were born to them - Mrs. Patrick Roach of California, Mrs. O.J. Quinn of Kendall, Edward, John, Mrs. Richard Roach and Jennie, who with their mother are living at the old home. His funeral, which took place Saturday, January 4th, was the largest seen in the parish for a long time. His remains were taken to Catholic Church in Kendall where a requiem Mass was offered for the repose of his soul by Rev. Father, Wrenn, after which the body was taken to the Catholic cemetery and laid to rest, there to await the final ressurrection.
