J.S.TOWNSEND DIES IN HOSPITAL
Resident of St. Paul community

James S. Townsend, age 82, of two miles southeast of St. Paul, died at 7:15 o'clock Wednesday evening at the Major hospital. Mr. Townsend had undergone an emergency appendicitis operation on Christmas Day.

He was born on November 13, 1857 in Decatur county, the son of James and Susan Townsend. Mr. Townsend was married to Miss Lina Demott in 1878. She preceded in death fourteen years ago.

Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Sarah Bailey, of St. Paul; four nieces, Mrs. Haley Smith, Mrs. Myrtle Ayers, Mrs. Grace McIntire, and Mrs. Bertha Clapp; and three nephews, Eber, Lewis, and Roy Townsend.

Funeral services will be held at the United Brethren Chapel church, south of St. Paul, at 2:00 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Burial will be in the U.B. Chapel cemetery, in charge of Ezra Carmony, funeral director.
