Homer K. Spence was born in Lumberport West Virginia to Joseph R Spence and Blanche Lena Adams/Spence but was raised in Cassville West Virginia and lived most his life there. He was a Greyhound bus driver for 15 some years and also worked on road construction. He died in the VA Hospital in Clarksburg West Virginia. He was married to Thrya Xenada Mitchell they had 5 children. He was married a second time to Mary Ann Burke Ladd Spence. They had no children. Homer also serviced in the US Army in WWII.

Homer K. Spence, 65, of Cassville, died Monday, July 7, 1986 at the Veterans Hospital in Clarksburg.
He was born April 8, 1921 in Lumberport, a son of the late Joseph and Blanche Adams Spence.
He was a Greyhound Bus driver for 15 years and a member of the Teamsters Local. he was a life member of General Daniel Morgan VFW Post 548 of Morgantown. He was also a member of Joseph W. Summers Lodge 173 AF&AM and past governor of the Moose Lodge in Painesville, Ohio.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Burke Spence; three sons, Roger K. Spence of Perry, Ohio, Ralph W. Spence of Bidwell, Ohio, and Jerry E. Spence of Cassville; two daughters Carole Lynn Miller and Loutisha Ann Jewett, both of Columbus, Ohio; three stepsons, Frank L. Ladd and David L. Ladd, both of Columbus, Ohio and James A. Ladd of Westover; 11 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Ralph Spence.
Friends may call at the William McCulla Funeral Home from 7-9 p.m Tuesday and 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Robert Fox officiating. Burial will follow at Olive Cemetery at Pentress with Masonic Memorial services conferred by Joseph W. Summers Lodge 173 AF&AM. VFW Post 548 will conduct memorial services Wednesday at 7:30 p.m at the funeral Home.
