When viewed with reasoning and fairness, it will be found that Mr. Cavanaugh's life was at all times helpful to those with whom he came in contact, a life worthy of emulation and that the world and especially this community, is better for his having lived is beyond doube in our mind. While never boisterous abou that which he was doing, he was never idle in the work for happiness and for the spiritual welfare of mankind. Those with whom he dealt respected him highly; he demonstrated the true virtues of a meritorious life.
Michael Cavanaugh was born in the town of Kendall, March 19, 1863. His early life was spent on the farm where he finished the rural school. Later he completed his education at Dixon, Ill. In 1888 he was united in marriage with Belle Boyle and for five years made his home on a farm west of Darlington. He then moved to Calamine where for many years he conducted a store and had charge of the post office. Since retiring from business life Mr. Cavanaugh had continued to make his home in Calamine where he had been rich in the love that true friends make manifest to a worthy citizen.
Besides his wife, deceased is survived by two brothers, John of Calamine and Edward of San Francisco, Cal.
Fuenral services were conductd at St. Michael's church Monday morning. Members of the Catholic Order of Foresters, Knights of Columbus and Modern Woodmen, to which orders Mr. Cavanaugh belonged, attended the services. The body was laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery at Kendall.
