J. A. "Jack" Gianelli died in Columbia, Ca., on Oct. 11 at the age of 68. A former resident of Placerville for about 15 years, he was retired from a career with the Federal Aviation Authority. Gianelli at one time worked for the Raffles Hotel here in town and helped start a local flying club known as the Hangtown Hawks. The funeral service was Tuesday in Sonora under the direction of Hueton Funeral Parlors followed by burial at the Columbia Cemetery. Gianelli is survived by his widow Shirley of Columbia, daughter Sara Ellison of Vista, Ca., sons John A. Gianelli, II, of North Hollywood and Richard Patterson of Simi Valley, five grandchildren, three nieces and several cousins.
