"Pioneer Knox County Resident Passes Away"
"Henry Anders Reaches Ripe Old Age Of 81 Years, Farmed Near Creighton, Wausa And Bloomfield"
"Buried Alongside Wife"

The deceased was born in Mecklenburg, Germany, February 4, 1851. His parents with their children immigrated to America in 1858 and made their home in Tinley Park, Illinois, near Chicago. Here he was reared, schooled and confirmed in the Lutheran church.

On January 25, 1876 he entered the holy state of matrimony with Adelhaid Schmeckpeper. In 1887 the family moved to Nebraska on a farm, for a time at Creighton, at Wausa and at Bloomfield. Eighteen years ago Mr. and Mrs. Anders retired from actual farming and made their home near their son Fred's place, later on moving to town. When mother Anders passed away on December 31, 1927, father Anders took up his home with his children, most of the time at John Doerr's Jr. During the last weeks he resided with his daughter, Mrs. Fred Hoppe, where he received all care and attention necessary to make it pleasant for him. His physical sickness was asthma with related ailments. He was not bedridden, but at times he was laid up. He passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 1932, at 11:30 pm at the age of 81 years, 3 months, prepared by repentance and faith in Christ Jesus, his Savior.

He is survived by one son, Henry Anders Jr., of Sioux City, Iowa, by 5 daughters, Mrs. Will Cook of Bloomfield, Mrs. Fred Hoppe of Osmond, Mrs. Henry Peters of Wausa, Mrs. Rudoff Buman of Osmond and Mrs. John Doerr of Creighton; also by a daughter-in-law, 6 sons-in-law, 47 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, one brother of Norfolk, Nebraska and a large number of other relatives and friends.
He was ready to depart this earthly life and strife, praying, "My God, for Jesus' sake I pray -- Thy peace may bless my dying day."

The funeral was held last Saturday, May 7th, at the Hoppe home conducted by Rev. Pullmann. It was continued here at First Trinity church where the Rev. Pullmann made the German and Pastor A. Ollenburg the English funeral address, dwelling on the theme of, "Why we should reverently
remember our earthly fathers in life and in death."

After the services the remains were laid to rest beside those of mother Anders. A large attendance paid their last respects to Mr. Anders, Sr.
