David Abernathy Young was the youngest of the seven children of Philip Young and Charity Abernathy Young. According to family historian James Young on Ancestry.com, bible records show that David was born in Lincoln County, North Carolina in 1823. All Ancestry.com Family Trees reviewed for this bio also show a birth date of 16 July 1823, while the headstone clearly shows a date of 16 July 1824. All sources agree on the death date on the headstone.The Philip Young family is listed in the 1810 and 1820 U.S. Censuses for Lincoln County, North Carolina. Philip purchased land in Georgia, to include Habersham County, in 1825 and around that date the family moved to Habersham County. The Philip Young family is listed in the 1830 and 1840 U . S. Censuses for Habersham County. Only the two youngest sons (David and William Daniel) were still living at home in 1840. It is currently unknown what caused David’s death at a relatively young age. There is no evidence he ever married.
