Rallin Raymond Albert, a longtime resident of Wilson County, Texas, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2010, at 3:15 p.m. in the Connally Memorial Medical Center in Floresville at the age of 90 years, 8 months, and 1 day.

Rallin was born Aug. 3, 1919, in Three Oaks in Wilson County, the son of Edward Frank and Mary Voelkel Albert.

Rallin married Margaret Matheaus on Dec. 26, 1945, in the St. John Lutheran Church in Poth. He was a farmer, a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, a lifetime member of the VFW, Post 8555, and a member of the Disabled Veterans Association. Rallin faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He served as a sergeant with the TPC 12th Cavalry in Bismarck Archipelago, New Guinea, and the Southern Philippines. His service earned him the Purple Heart, three Overseas Service Bars, the World War II Victory Medal, the American Defense Service Medal, the American Theater Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Theater Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two Bronze Service Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge, and the SS Rifle.

Rallin was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mary Albert; his brothers, Jessie Albert, Leroy Albert, and Clarence Albert; and his sisters, Lorena Haag, Dessie Traeger, and Cleo Traeger.

Rallin is survived by his beloved wife of more than 64 years, Margaret Albert of McCoy; his son, Calvin Albert and wife Georgia of McCoy; his grandchildren, Corey Albert and wife Jaime of Falls City, Eric Albert and wife Stacie of McCoy, and Renee Jaskinia and husband Mark of Poth; his great-grandchildren, Caleb Albert, Dathan Albert, Makenna Albert, Brooklyn Albert, Alexis Albert, Rylan Albert, Dakota Jaskinia, and Jordan Jaskinia; his brother, Roy Albert of San Antonio; his sister, MelbaLee Tyson of Helotes; and his sisters-in-law, Anita Albert, Gertrude Manning, and Lucy Matheaus.

Visitation began at 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, and a prayer service was held at 7 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Poth.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the St. John Lutheran Church in Poth, officiated by Kelly Tankersley, SAM.

Interment followed in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Poth. Serving as pallbearers were Corey Albert, Eric Albert, Mark Jaskinia, Jimmy Albert, Terry Gawlik, Melvin Kretzschmar, Billy Hoefelmeyer, Douglas Wilde, Carl Hoefelmeyer, Robert Matheaus, David Haverlah, Caleb Albert, and Dathan Albert.
