Samuel "Sammy" A. Morales, born Feb. 10, 1951, in Falls City, Texas, went to be with the Lord Sunday, March 15, 2009, at the age of 58 years, 1 month, and 5 days.

He graduated from Falls City High School, class of 1969, and was a courier with Radiology Associates for 20 years. Sammy was an original member and a legend of "The Abbey of South Texas," and also a proud member of "The Shadows" band. He married Cathy Jaskinia on Oct. 6, 1974, in St. Ann's Catholic Church in Kosciusko.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Felipa Morales; and a brother, William Morales.

Sammy is survived by his wife of more than 34 years, Cathy Jaskinia Morales; his daughter, Kristy Morales and fiancé Jeff Wurn; his son, Ryan Morales; his brothers, James Morales and wife Helen, John Morales and wife Gloria, Alex Morales and wife Joanne, David Morales, and Raymond Morales and wife Janice; and his sister, Mary Ratcliff. He is also survived by his parents-in-law, Thomas and Agnes Jaskinia; his brothers-in-law, Mike Jaskinia and wife Debbie, Jerry Jaskinia and wife Olga, and Rudy Jaskinia and wife Barbara; his sister-in-law, Sally Laskowski and husband Albin; numerous nieces and nephews; and forever and always special friends, Richard and Annette Gorzell and family.

Visitation was held Tuesday, March 17, from 4-6 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home in Poth.

A rosary was recited Tuesday at 8 p.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Poth.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Church in Poth, with Father Frank Kurzaj serving as celebrant and Father Grzegorz Szewczyk serving as co-celebrant.

Interment followed in St. Ann's Cemetery in Kosciusko.
