Ernest P. Walkowski

Feb. 4, 1930 - Feb. 24, 2000

Ernest P. "Big E" Walkowski, 70, of Bertrand St., South Bend, IN, passed away at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 24, in his sister's home. He was born on February 4, 1930, to Peter and Jennie (Kilinski) Walkowski, both of who preceded him in death. Ernest was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph (1970) and James (1987) Walkowski.

Mr. Walkowski was employed for 35 years with Sobenite Plastic.

He is survived by three sisters, Lucille Kopczynski, Marcia Sink, both of South Bend, Ind., Betty Lou (Joe) Elias of Niles, Mich.; a sister-in-law, Ruth Walkowski of South Bend, Ind.; and by 13 nieces and nephews and their families.

"Big E" was a member of the Army & Navy Club, Chain-O-Lakes Conservation Club, P.N.A. Group 83 and the St. Joe Club.

Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive., where a parish rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 26, in the St. Stanislaus B.M. Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
