---B. F. WORKMAN was born in Adair County, Missouri, July 31, 1861. His parents were Friend and Amanda Workman. He was married January 18, 1885, to Sabina Elmore, daughter of John and Nancy Elmore. They have three children: Leola, born January 21, 1886; Ester, April 7, 1890; Byron Elmore, July 13, 1892.
---Mr. Workman has lived in Wilson township all his life. He owns a good farm of 520 acres, well improved, five and three-fourths miles northeast of La Plata. He feeds eighty to one hundred cattle every year. The farm is just three miles form Gibbs. He prides himself on his fine stock. He raises fine horses, thoroughbred Plymouth Rock chickens, etc. In politics he is a Democrat. He is a member of the I. O. O. F. and K. and P. lodges of La Plata. His wife belongs to the Methodist Episcopal church. He is a stockholder and director in the Bank of La Plata.

---Byron F. Workman, 89, of La Plata, died in a Kirksville hospital Tuesday evening at 8:30 o'clock. He had been in failing health the past year and seriously ill the past three weeks.
---Funeral services will be held in the La Plata Christian Church Friday afternoon at two o'clock conducted by Rev. R. L. Prather. Interment will be in Maple Hills Cemetery at Kirksville.
---Mr. Workman was the son of Friend and Amanda (Gregg) Workman and was born in Adair County on July 31, 1860. He was married on Jan. 18, 1885, to Sabina Elmore and to this marriage three children were born. One son Elmore died March 16, 1943. Mrs. Workman preceded him in death on June 29, 1946, and one brother, Andrew Workman, and one sister, Mrs. Nannie Benner also preceded him in death.
---Surviving are his daughters, Mrs. Foster R. (Leolah) Easley, of Brashear, and Miss Esther Workman, of the home; one grandson, Byron Easley, of Hurdland; four granddaughters, Mrs. Juanita Rogers, Decatur, Ill., Mrs. Dorothy Ridge, of Brashear, Mrs. Mildred Mercer, La Plata, and Mrs. Evelyn Barry, Washington, Kansas.
---Mr. Workman was a cattle feeder, and operated a farm located about five miles northeast of La Plata. When stock was shipped to the market by rail he sometimes had several car loads of cattle on the market at a time, his cattle topping the market many times. He was vice-president of the old Bank of La Plata for a number of years. He lived all his life in and near La Plata.
