Mr. Clay was born Dec. 24, 1897, at River, a son of the late Henry and Ella Mary Clay.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 381, F & AM.
His first wife, Mrs. Alafair Clay, died in 1947. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Eva Vanhoose Clay; two daughters,Mrs.Vonda CLay McKenzie and Mrs. Herma Clay Preston, both of River; three brothers, Edgar Clay of River, Ollie Clay of Sitka,and Ed Clay of Ashland; and three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Castle of Lowmansville, Mrs. Mamie Murray of Flat Gap, and Mrs. Exer Brown of Plain City, O.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home in Paintsville by C.C. Hall, minister.
Burial will be in the family cemetery at River. Friends may call at the funeral home.
