Lela Pearl Blunt, 88, a resident of RR 4, Charles City, died Thursday, Feb. 6, at the 9th St. Chautauqua Guest Home. Services for Lela Blunt will be held at Sunnyside Chapel Funeral Home at 10:30 am., Saturday. Dr. Paul D. Mork, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunnyside Memory Gardens. Friends may call at Sunnyside Chapel Funeral Home after 3 pm-9pm on Friday and prior to the services on Saturday.
Lela Blunt was born September 1 1897 at New Hartford, Ia., the daughter of Ira and Birdie Ingels (Ingalls) Ackerson. She attended schools in New Hartford area and married Irving Clyde Blunt at Waterloo, November 18, 1912 (should be November 19, 1912) She moved to the Charles City area about four years ago and had been a resident of the New Hampton area for several years before coming to this area
Family members include three sons, Richard, Mason City; Roy, Moose Lake, MN; Robert, Wichita,KS; five daughters, Mrs. Fred (Valera) LaBounty, Champlain, MN; Mrs. Orland (Virginia) Hereid and Mrs. Robert (Dorothy) Baumgardner, both of Charles City; Mrs Henry (Doris) Remer, Isles, MN; and Mrs. Robert (Mary) Deneen, NewPort, MN; 41 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Blunt was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one daughter, Ina (Iva); three sons, Clarence, Clyde and Melvin, two brothers, and three sisters
