Trooper First Class Sawa was in his marked patrol vehicle exchanging information with his supervisor parked in the median of northbound I-95 @ the Havre de Grace interchange. A tractor trailer ran off the road and struck his vehicle killing him & Trooper Larry Small. The operator of the truck was arrested and charged with two counts of homicide by motor vehicle while intoxicated. TFC Sawa had 4 yrs & 8 mths of service with the Maryland State Police and is survived by his wife and 2 children.
