Earl L. Fritz
Earl L. Fritz, 66, of Sioux City died Monday, May 14, 2001, at a Sioux City hospital following a sudden illness.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Christy-Smith Morningside Funeral Home, with Chaplain Shelley Aakre officiating. Bu-rial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mr. Fritz was born Jan. 25, 1935, in Sioux City, the son of William B. and Mildred M. (Barnes) Fritz. He attended school in Leeds and graduated from Leeds High School in 1953.
He married Beverly Schmeckpeper on Aug. 29, 1965, in Pender, Neb. He was employed with several packing plants in Sioux City until the closing of Swift Packing Co. He then became a self-employed mechanic.
He enjoyed wrestling, fishing, NASCAR racing and educational programs.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Staci and her husband, Randy Uhl, Brenda Allyn, Linda Solomon and Debra Moriston, all of Sioux City; two brothers and their wives, Arthur and Sandy and Glen and Jan, all of Sioux City; a sister, Diane Middleton of Sioux City; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Irma Harris; and a brother, George.
Pallbearers will be Jason and Cori Allyn, Dustin Furhrer, Scott Schmeckpeper, Doug Burmeister, Eric Fritz, Nick Moriston and Danny Hodgins.
