He was born December 14, 1960 in Flint, MI to Stephen E. & Avis H. (McArthur) Surrell. He married Carol Brightwell on January 31, 2008 in Louisville, IL.
He was a licensed inspector and mechanic for small aircraft specializing in Mooney Aircraft, which was his passion. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of D.A.V.
He is survived by his wife: Carol Surrell of Flora; daughter Kaycie Marie Surrell of Springfield, MO; son: Matthew Edward Surrell of Mountain Home, AR; step-children: Matthew (Casey) Jansma, Robyn (Robert) Knicker, Sgt. David (Ashley) Brightwell Jr, Brandy (Shawn) Magerski all of the northwest Indiana area; sister: Becky Beiry & husband Randy of Louisville, KY; brothers: Joe Surrell & wife Barb of Louisville, KY and Jim Surrell & wife Barb of St. Louis, MO;
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday (July 10, 2010) at Frank & Bright Funeral Home with Pastor Lee Woods officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Newberry, MI.
