His parents moved to Michigan where they were active in church work, and their children could obtain an education. Rev. Ralph R. as well as his brother Rev. Albert L., obtained degrees from Hillsdale College, Hillsdale, Michigan, and Albert L. served in India as a missionary in the Free Baptist mission endeavor there. As seen from censuses, Rev. Ralph R. edited a church paper in Minneapolis, and then pastored until he moved to Florida, where he engaged in business where his brother, Albert, had already located.
