Sgt. William T. Britton

KENTON, Feb. 5 - Reburial services for Sgt. William Thomas Britton, 23, will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Mt. Victory Church of Christ. The Revs. Lloyd Harris and Gaylord D. Welkin of Convoy will officiate with burial in Hale cemetery.

Military rites will be conducted by the William Britton VFW Post, the Clarence Golden post of the American Legion and by Co. E, 148th infantry.

Sgt. Britton was one of the original members of Co. E, 148th infantry, Kenton's National Guard unit, when he left for service in World War II. He was killed in the Battle of Munda on Aug. 1, 1943.

Born May 17, 1920, he had lived all his life in Hardin-co and 16 years in the Mt. Victory community.

William Britton post VFW was named in his honor.

Surviving are his widow, Josephine, and a son, Russell, both of Kenton; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Britton, Mt. Victory; three sisters and five brothers.

The body is in Sherman-Mackey funeral home here and will be removed to the church at 1 p.m. Sunday.
