Chester Habegger
Chester Habegger, 46, of Route 2, Geneva, died at 4:50 p.m. Monday at Jay County Hospital, Portland. He had been ill five months with cancer.
Mr. Habegger had been employed at Franklin Electric Co. for the past 13 years and was engaged in farming.
He was a member of the First Mennonite Church, Berne.
He was born Dec. 23, 1928 in Adams County, the son of Edger and Saville (Roth) Habegger, and was married June 27, 1953 to the former Ruth Patch, who survives.
Also surviving are his mother, who resides on Route 2, Decatur, two daughters, Linda and DeeAnn, at home; two sons, David and Jim, at home; four sisters, Mrs. Tom (Hannah) Schaadt and Mrs. William Mac (Kate) Smith, both of Geneva, and Mrs. Richard (Eldonna) Amstutz of Berne, and Mrs. Robert (Sarabelle) Amstutz of Granada Hills, Calif.; four brothers, Howard of Route 2, Decatur, Ben of Rural Route, Bluffton, Paul of Rural Route, Geneva, and Alvin of Berne.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of the First Mennonite Church, Berne, with the Rev. Kenneth Baumann officiating. Friends may call ata the Downing funeral Home, Geneva, after 7 p.m. today.
