FRED M. KNAPPEN, 52, EXPIRES AT HOSPITAL; FUNERAL ON SATURDAY
FRED M. KNAPPEN, for many years secretary of the Grand Rapids Veneer works, died yesterday in Butterworth Hospital following an operation for appendicitis. He had been in poor health the last year.
Funeral services will be held in the residence, 951 Lakeside dr., at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Dean Charles E. Jackson of St. Mark's pro-cathedral, will officiate.
Mr. Knappen was born in Hastings, Sept. 14, 1879, and had lived virtually his entire life in Grand Rapids. He was the son of the late Judge Loyal E. Knappen. He attended the University of Michigan.
Mr. Knappen is survived by his widow, MARY, and a daughter, MARY AMELIA; a brother, Atty. STUART E. KNAPPEN, and a sister, MRS. A.D. PERRY, all of Grand Rapids.
Mr. Knappen was a member of St. Mark's pro-cathedral and of Psi U fraternity.
