When he was very young, his family moved to Oswego, Ks and from there to Atchison.
He was educated in Washington school and Trinity Luthern school in Atchison.
As a young man, he was a fireman for the Atchison Livestock Co, then a boilermaker with the Farwell Heating company and a pipe fitter for the Thayer supply Co for several years.
He was a stationary firemanfor the Atchison & Union Depot co for 29 years.
He died from pneumonia and kidney complications.
On Sept 28 1907, he was united in marriage to Miss Clara Schmidt of Atchison. They built their home on south eleventh street.
