Jul 15, 1904, MONROE COUNTY DEMOCRAT, Sparta, Wisconsin:
MR. AND MRS. LORENZO FARR WHO CELEBRATED THE SIXTY-THIRD ANNIVERSARY OF THEIR MARRIAGE IN APRIL LAST
Mr. and Mrs. Lorenzo A. Farr reside on a farm at Tar Falls in the town of Sparta, about eight miles northeast of this city. The are among the comparatively few settlers who have been spared the hand of Providence to see the country transformed from utter wilderness to its present state of cultivation and advancement, standing as it does a monument to the thriftiness and perseverance, in earlier days of these and other faithful pioneers.

Mr. and Mrs. Farr are both natives of Elyria, Loraine County, Ohio. The are now well ripe in years. Mr. Farr having passed the 84th mile stone on the 22nd of last March and his faithful helpmate will have reached four score years if she is spared until the 14th of next October. Both are in fairly good health at present, though Mr. Farr had been partially an invalid, for the past forty years, but he says, "I have seen the time when I could jump like a deer and it took a mighty good man to put me down."

This aged couple were married in Mantua, Portage County, Ohio on April 5th 1841 and came to Wisconsin in 1847 before it became a state. They first located in Roxbury, Dane County, Wisconsin. At this time, Mr. Farr says there were only 3 houses in Baraboo, Wisconsin. Mr. Farr named the town of Roxbury and served as first town chairman. The came to Sparta, WI in 1855 and located on the farm, where they now and have since resided in 1856. The farm however was sold some years ago to their daughter, Mrs. John Freestone, who has since occupied it, but Mr. and Mrs. Farr retained a portion of the old home where they are house-keeping as of yore.

Mr. Farr tells us he has been a subscriber to the DEMOCRAT since it was born. He is an ardent adovocate of Democracy and hopes to live to cast a vote for Parker and Davis next fall. As a citizen Mr. Far has always been held in highest esteem. He was postmaster of old Lafayette for 5 years and school trustee for thirty years.

That Mr. and Mrs. Farr may be blessed with good health and more years of life and happiness is the sincere wish of the DEMOCRAT.
