Lieut Liscum was a bomber pilot in the army air corps. He was a co-pilot on a B-24 Liberator with the Jolly Rogers bomber squadron. He was on his fifteenth mission when he disappeared. He was a graduate of Bagley High School and a student at Platteville State Teachers college when he entered the service. He was commissioned in April, 1944.

His plane disappeared on Jan 26, 1945 and he was reported as missing in action. In May, 1945 the family received word that he had been killed on the day he disappeared in the Pacific area. This was the 2nd casualty for the family. His brother Fred (Fred J Liscum) was killed in action on Feb 6, 1945.

Memorial services for both brothers was held in May 1945 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Bagley, WI.
