He married Dorothy May Matheny on June 29, 1947 at the church in Mole Hill, WV, which was right next door to his parent's house. Methodist minister, Ralph Richards, conducted the ceremony. Duewayne was 25 years old and residing in Wheeling, WV and Dorothy was 21 years old and residing at Williamstown, WV at the time of their marriage.
He was a truck driver at the Weirton Steel Mill. He and Dorothy had a son together and lived in Wheeling in Ohio County, WV.
While at work, he was involved in a truck accident at Rt. 20 and Rt. 7. Tragically, the truck overturned, pinning him in the cab and then caught fire.
Dorothy was pregnant with their daughter at the time of Duewayne's passing.
Duewayne is buried in the same plot as his parents.
