VIRGINIA M. COMPTON, age 91, died on Friday, July 9, 2010, at the home of her daughter in Marion.

VIRGINIA was born on June 28, 1919, in Pennville, Indiana, the daughter of the late Earl and Orpha (Reff ) Smith. On September 14, 1945, she married Herman Compton. He preceded her in death on July 11, 1997

She was a 50 year member of the Mississinewa Chapter No. 94 Order Of The Eastern Star, attended Role Methodist Church, and was a WLS radio station singer.

Survivors include 7 Daughters: Cynthia Williams (Jerry) of Weatherford, Texas, Vivian Odle (Art) of Aurora, Missouri, Virginia Johnston (Ted) of Lowell, Arkansas, Nannette Mast (Marvin) of Marion, Deborah Flitcraft (Steven) of Marion, Brenda Derry (Bob) of Marion, & Susan Siders (Bill), of LaFontaine, 3 Sisters, Jean Hummer of Anderson, Juanita Cooper of Keystone, Indiana, and Delight George (James) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, 21 Grandchildren, 44 Great Grandchildren, and 8 Great-Great Grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her Sister, Helen Fuller and 2 Great Grandchildren.

Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at Estates of Serenity Cemetery, Marion, Indiana, with Dr. Tom Mansbarger officiating.


Friends may call from 5 - 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 13 at the Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana. An Eastern Star service will be held at 7:30 PM.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Organization of the donor's choice.
