LAURA M. BRENING - YUMA, Ariz. - Laura Mendes Brenning, 65, of Yuma, Ariz., died Wednesday, June 24, 1998, in Phoenix, Ariz.
She was the wife of Harold Brening. Born in Newport on May 1, 1933 she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Silveira Mendes. Mrs. Brening was a retired medical assistant.
Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Manuel J. Santos Jr. of Gambrells, Md., two daughters, Juanita M. Potorke of Tulare, Calif., and Rose Marie Caraker of Preston, Md., two sisters, Clara M. Rosa of Middletown and Mary McCall of Dade City, Fla.; a brother, Charles Mendes of Holly, N.Y.; two aunts, Jesuina Faria of Portsmouth, and Irene Rodrigues of Newport; an uncle, Joseph Silveira Sr. of Middletown; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Joseph Mendes and twin sister of the late Clara May Mendes.
Her funeral was held Saturday, June 27, at the Kammann Mortuary Chapel in Yuma. Burial was in the Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Yuma.
A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Sunday, July 19, in the Salve Regina University Chapel in Newport.
