Native of Berne, 34, Dies Friday in Ft. Wayne Hospital
Services were held at 10 a.m. today in Aldersgate Methodist church, Fort Wayne, for Mrs. Ruth I. Klopfenstein, 34, wife of Gordon L. Klopfenstein of the city who died at 3:20 p.m. Friday in Lutheran hospital after an extended illness. Rev. Robert Bickel officiated at the rites and burial in the M.R.E. cemetery west of Berne where graveside services were held at 2 p.m.
Mrs. Klopfenstein's death was attributed to cancer. She had been ill a number of months and had submitted to surgery some time ago.
She was a native of Berne and was born here Sept. 17, 1931, a daughter of Jacob L. and Rosina Habegger Inniger. She is a graduate of Berne high school, graduated from Fort Wayne Bible college and attended Indiana university one year. She taught at Anthony Wayne school in Fort Wayne.
She was married to Gordon Klopfenstein May 24, 1957, at the First Missionary church here. Mr. Klopfenstein is a son of Rev. and Mrs. J.J. Klopfenstein, now of Angola, formerly of this city.
Mrs. Klopfenstein was a member of Aldersgate Methodist Church and its Women's Society of Christian Service. She also had served as church organist, and was a member of the Indiana State Teacher's Association, the Allen County Teacher's Association, and was a former member of the National Educators Association.
Surviving are her husband, who is assistant principal at Aboite township school in Allen County; three sons, Joseph J., David N., Daniel M. and a daughter, Ann K., all at home; a brother, Merlin Inniger, a missionary is West Pakistan; a sister, Kathleen Jacobsen, a missionary in Japan, and her stepmother, Mrs. Fern Inniger, Berne.
