Died in Germany of wounds from the war. The remains of First Lt. Everett W. Griffith were returned from Europe and reinterred in Novelty Cemetery on September 1, 1948.

At 0710 hours, enemy planes attacked Lt. Griffith's company, which at the time was serving breakfast; strafed and dropped anti-personnel bombs over a wide area causing very heavy casualties. This occurred at Wachenheim, south of Bad Durkheim and west of Ludwigshafen. Lt. Campbell, Lt. Griffith, and Pvt. Bell were fatally injured
