Retired Farmer Dies At Philo
George J. Buck, age 71, a retired farmer, died Monday morning at 3 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Albert Sampson in Philo, following a five months' illness of complications.He was a native of Perry County and had been residing in Philo for the past seven years.
Surviving are the following 12 children: Miss Elizabeth Buck, Newark; Miss Elenor of near Moxahala park; Claire and Kathleen of Florida; Mrs. Mary Hanning and Mrs. Rosa Sampson, both of Zanesville; Mrs. Cordia Seely, Lancaster; Mrs. Sylvia Castor, McArthur; Miss Iceal Buck, Powell, Ohio; George Buck, Zanesville; Mrs. Anna Kanup and Mrs. Dora Sampson, both of Philo; Two sisters, Mrs. Mary Maxwell, Murray City and Mrs. Emma Thompson, McArthur, two brothers, Charles and William Buck, McArthur and two half brothers, Lafe and James England, McArthur survive also, in addition to 28 grand children.
The body wil be removed from the Cannon and Cannon funeral home in Roseville to the Sampson residence in Philo late Monday afternoon. Funeral services will be held at the Philo Pentecostal church Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock with Rev. T. A. Davis officiating, Interment will be made in Millertown cemetery near Corning.
Note: George was born in Milton Township, Berlin, Jackson County, Ohio. In 1875, there was a J. Leach lived same area.
George and his first wife Mary Catherine/Katherine Thompson were divorced and he remarried. Mary C. Thompson Buck was born Jan. 19, 1876 in Vinton County, Ohio and died April 8, 1921 in Perry County, Ohio
1st Wife: Mary's Middle name was Catherine and NOT Elizibeth as an informant gave. Once again, nothing is considered perfect.
2nd wife: Laura (Linn) Converse: a marriage cert. that George signed x in 1922; 2nd marriage he gave as his date of date of birth: Nov. 15, 1868.
Father was Mordecai Jackson Buck or Jackson Mordecai Buck. and Mother Druzilla (Leach) Buck English
