Loyd King, age 76, of Guston died Thursday, March 23, 2000, at his home following a lengthy illness. Born in Rosetta on August 23, 1923, he was the son of the late Charles F. King and Fannie Mae Turpin. He was a carpenter with Mills Lumber Company in Guston, was an Army veteran of World War II, a member of Cedar Grove United Methodist Church in Meade County and a member of Irvington Masonic Lodge #868. His wife Ola Sue King, preceded him in death in 1995, also a son, Freddie King in 1968. Surviving are six sons, Charlie and Mike King both of Louisville, Dale King of Guston, Tim King of Brandenburg, Tom King and Jerry King of Elizabethtown; two brothers, Seth King, Guston, and Jim King, Irvington; and 14 grandchildren. The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 26 from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home in Irvington with the Rev. Dave Garrett officiating. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery near Bewleyville. Masonic services were conducted on Saturday evening by the Irvington Lodge #868. The family request expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Diabetes Foundation, 3043-A Breckinridge Lane, Louisville, KY 40220.
