Tryphena Stone Hopkins Anderson was the daughter of William Clark Reynolds and Ruth Harper Hopkins. She was named after her maternal grandmother Tryphena Stone Harper.

At the age of 8, she moved with her family to IL. When Tryphena was 16, her mother died, leaving her an orphan. Two years after this sad event she came to IA to make her home and for a time taught school at Exira, IA.

Nov. 12, 1868 she was united in marriage to Lysanius McGarraugh Anderson at the home of her sister, Harriet Hopkins Hubbard in Exira.

After a number of years of home life there, they moved to Audubon, IA where they reared their family and spent their remaining years.

Mrs. Anderson's health has not been good since the death of her husband, Sept. 24,1924. Death came Feb. 26, 1926. She was a member of ME Church.

Three of her children died in infancy, William A, Rosa May, and Lysanius McGarraugh. She is survived by daughters Mrs. Mary Campbell, Ulysses, NE, Mrs. Clara Martin, Audubon, IA, Mrs. Daisy Riggs, Audubon, Ia, Mrs. Ruth Clark Anamosa, IA, Mrs. Franc Sorenson, Audubon, IA, 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
