Curtis Allen Conrad, 51, Shillington,died of natural causes on the evening of Jan. 3, 2007. Born in West Reading, he was the son of the late Allen L. and Maeyon A.(Heckler) Conrad. He was a lineman/crew chief for Met-Ed for 28 years, last working on Jan. 3. Curt was a 1973 graduate of Gov. Mifflin High School, where he played varsity basketball. He received his bachelor's degree in health and physical education from West Chester State College in 1977. He also played basketball at West Chester and was the team captain his junior and senior years. Curt was inducted into the West Chester Basketball Hall of Fame in 1992. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Curt coached basketball and baseball for the Mifflin Area Youth Sports Programs. He was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ, Shillington. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, and a daughter, who is also a student at West Chester University. Other survivors include a brother, a sister, and a stepsister. There are also two nephews, and two stepnieces. He was predeceased by a stepbrother, Kurt Oplinger.
