Mildred C. "Midge" Chambers, 103, of Carlyle, Kansas, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2013, at Tara Gardens in Iola.

Midge was born January 15, 1910, in Bolivar, Missouri, the daughter of James William and Lanola Elizabeth (Epley) Higginbotham. She came to the Iola area with her family in 1912 and was a graduate of Iola High School.

On November 6, 1928, Midge married Frank L. Chambers and they made their home in the Carlyle community. He preceded her in death September 30, 1973.

Midge enjoyed sewing, crocheting and working crossword puzzles. She was a member of the Carlyle Presbyterian Church, Carlyle Club and a charter member of the Sew & So Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Betty Fitzgerald, granddaughter Camilla Dobson and brothers Burl, Floyd & Con Higginbotham.

VISITATION: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
