HALSTEAD-- Hattie May Steele, 101, died March 16, 1982, at Friendly Acres Nursing Home, Newton. Born Hattie Boyer May 29, 1880, at Halstead, she married Ara H. Steele Nov. 24, 1897, at Newton. He died Nov. 18, 1923. She was a lifetime resident of Halstead.
She was an Evangelical Methodist. She was a member of Pansey Circle, EHU, both of Newton; 6-Plus Club, Hutchinson.
Survivors: sons, Alva, Eldo, both of Halstead; Wayne, 3303 North Plum, Hutchinson; Dr., B.A., Hutchinson; daughter, Louene McBride, Hays; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, Halstead; the Rev. W.H. Nelson. Burial at Halstead Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until noon Friday at Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead.
